1. Polyester-Cotton: This fabric is a blend of cotton and polyester, offering good wrinkle resistance and shape retention. However, it may pill easily, and after two dyeing processes, the fabric feels somewhat stiff. Blended fabric polo shirts may be slightly less comfortable than pure cotton ones. 65% cotton polo shirts are acceptable, while 35% cotton is of lower quality.
2. 100% Cotton: This is a commonly used fabric for polo shirts, offering good value for money. Although it doesn't undergo special processing, pure cotton retains its excellent natural properties, such as skin-friendliness, breathability, and moisture absorption. If you have a limited budget but want comfortable wear, this fabric is a good choice for polo shirts.
3. Cotton + Lycra (High-Quality Spandex): This fabric has good drape and crease recovery, achieved by incorporating spandex into elastic cotton during the weaving process.
4. Mercedes-Cotton: This fabric uses cotton as its raw material and undergoes special processing such as singeing and mercerizing to create a smooth, bright, soft, and wrinkle-resistant high-quality mercerized yarn. Mercerized cotton fabric is breathable, lightweight, comfortable to wear, has a good luster, and does not irritate the skin, but its elasticity is relatively poor.
5. Double Mercerized Cotton: This is a high-end polo shirt fabric made from mercerized yarn that has undergone singeing and mercerizing treatments. Its fabric has a clear texture, novel patterns, a bright luster, and a smooth feel, surpassing even mercerized cotton in quality, and is also slightly more expensive.
6. Triple Mercerized Cotton: This is considered the finest type of cotton, lightweight, soft to the touch, comfortable to wear, non-irritating to the skin, and has excellent moisture absorption and breathability. This fabric is made from finely spun high-count yarn, then undergoes special processing such as singeing and mercerizing to create a high-quality knitted fabric.
When choosing a polo shirt fabric, consider the intended use. Since polo shirts are often worn during exercise, pure cotton is the most suitable due to its breathable and sweat-wicking properties. For those who prefer a slim fit and are active on the sports field but don't engage in high-intensity exercise, a cotton-polyester blend is a better choice.
